Ahmedabad: Asserting that his son Jay Shah had done nothing wrong in his commodities business, BJP President Amit Shah on Sunday came down heavily on Rahul Gandhi, saying the Congress Vice President did not even know the difference between turnover and profit.
“Jay has filed a criminal defamation case of Rs 100 crore because he is doing business legally. It doesn’t matter what Rahul Gandhi says. He doesn’t know difference between turnover and profit,” Amit Shah said at a conclave of India TV here.
Rejecting the allegation against his son, whose company had reportedly recorded an extraordinary spike in business after the BJP came to power at the Centre, as “without evidence”, he said everyone has right to move court.
Jay has himself gone to court without waiting for demand for inquiry,” he said.
Hitting out at Gandhi, Shah said that the Congress leader doesn’t even know about turnover and profit.
“My son doing commodities trading and there may be losses. Rahul Gandhi doesn’t know difference between Letter of Credit and loan. Jay was not given loan, but Letter of Credit. All loans have been cleared. He didn’t do any business with government and didn’t take any government land and had no connection with contractors,” he said.
Amit Shah also defended Jay Shah’s defence by Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
“Piyush Goyal came to defend as BJP leader and not as minister. And what crime he has committed if he defended. Don’t we have a right to represent our case. What is wrong?” he asked.
