Three terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in Laroo area of Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, cops said.
The identity of the slain militants is being ascertained, a police official said.
In Laroo area, Security forces launched a cordon and search operation following specific information about the presence of militants, he said. As the forces were conducting the searches, the ultras fired upon them, triggering the encounter, the official added.
"The encounter concluded just now and I have been told that three terrorists were neutralised in it. The operation is being wound up. Their identity is yet to be ascertained," said DGP Dilbag Singh.
On Saturday too, an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Pulwama district of the state.
Based on credible intelligence input about the presence of militants in Pattan area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir, security forces launched a cordon and search operation, a police official said, reported.
The militants fired upon the search party, he said.
