Bollywood singer and composer Anu Malik is taken over by the #MeToo wave when Shweta Pandit and singer Sona Mohapatra accused him of sexual harassment last week. After these two ladies came forward and blamed Anu Malik, two more women opened up about their #MeToo stories and charged the singer with sexual harassment allegations. This has definitely not gone well with the makers of the show and the channel, which is why they have decided to fire the singer as the judge of the popular singing reality show Indian Idol 10.
Sony Entertainment Television has issued an official statement, stating that Anu Malik is "no longer a part of the Indian Idol jury panel." The statement read, "Anu Mallik is no longer a part of the Indian Idol jury panel. The show will continue its planned schedule and we will invite some of the biggest names in Indian music as guests to join Vishal and Neha to judge the extraordinary talent of Indian Idol season 10. "
Anu Malik was seen judging the show alongside Neha Kakkar and Vishal Dadlani. Ever since the allegations have surfaced, the channel has been taking the matter very seriously and had even asked Anu Malik to step down as the judge. The singer gave his statement to Pinkvilla in which he said that he is taking a break from the show. The singer said, "I, Anu Malik, have decided to take a break from Indian Idol as I am currently unable to focus on my work, my music and the show."
Last week Shweta called Anu Malik a paedophile and sexual predator in a long note shared on Twitter. "Had to go back to my worst memory as a teenage girl today to write this and speak up - its now or never. This is my #MeToo and have to warn young girls about #AnuMalik & let you know your #TimesUp @IndiaMeToo Thank you @sonamohapatra for speaking up about him & supporting this," she wrote in her tweet.
