May this year, the OnePlus 6T brings, as its signature feature, the in-display fingerprint sensor, called as screen unlock. Apart from this, the phone also sports a waterdrop-style notch, which is much smaller than the notch on the phone’s predecessor.
In India, the OnePlus 6T is priced from Rs 37,999, and will be available in three variants – 6GB RAM/128GB storage, 8GB RAM/128GB storage (Rs 41,999), and 8GB RAM/256GB storage (Rs 45,999). The notable change with the OnePlus 6T is the discontinuation of the 64GB storage option; the base variant now comes with 128GB of internal storage. As has been the case for a while now, the OnePlus 6T does not have a slot for storage expansion.
The biggest changes in this device are the in-display fingerprint sensor and the waterdrop notch. The former is a replacement for the ceramic sensor at the back of the phone, allowing OnePlus to bring the sensor back to the front of the device, as was the case till the OnePlus 5. The latter is a smaller notch design than on the OnePlus 6, thereby increasing available screen space at the top. The notch itself holds the front camera and sensors, while the earpiece moves to the top edge of the device. The OnePlus 6T also continues to come with face unlock for faster authentication.
Apart from this, the OnePlus 6T is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, has a slightly larger 6.41-inch full-HD+ AMOLED screen, and sports a larger 3,700mAh battery. Charging sticks to OnePlus’ popular Dash Charge standard (simply called fast charging in certain markets). Another key change in the OnePlus 6 is the omission of the 3.5mm jack; OnePlus has included a USB Type-C to 3.5mm dongle in the sales package, and has also launched its own Bullets Type-C headphones, which is priced at Rs 1,490. Apart from this, OnePlus also sells the Bullets Wireless headphones, priced at Rs 3,990.
While the OnePlus has been launched in India today, it will go on sale through Amazon India, oneplus.in and authorized offline retailers on November 2. As the replacement for the OnePlus 6, it is expected that the older model will be phased out soon with only the newer model continuing to retail. OnePlus will also be launching a wide range of accessories for the phone, including protective cases, tempered glass screen protectors, and more.
