The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding a low pressure that is forming over the central Bay of Bengal and is likely to move towards Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
The low pressure is associated with a cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above sea level.
The low pressure is expected to become a depression in the next 24 hours which could move towards north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha on October 19th.
The IMD has forecast that as a result of the depression, heavy rains are expected in Odisha and Coastal Andhra Pradesh on October 18 and 19
Incidentally, around the same time in 2014, a severe cyclonic storm called Cyclone Hudhud struck Andhra Pradesh near Vishakhapatnam. claiming 81 lives. Sixteen districts in Odisha were also on high alert at this time
