Tollywood sensation Vijay Deverakonda who was disappointed with the lukewarm response received by his previous outing, 'NOTA', has pinned all his hopes on his next titled as 'Taxiwala'. Vijay who appeared as a young Chief Minister in his previous movie has now turned into a Taxi driver for this super-natural comedy thriller. Though the film was hit by piracy, 'Taxiwala' managed to create a good buzz around it. Priyanka Jawalkar played the female lead in the movie. Rahul Sankrithyan helmed this project. The film has finally hit the theatres worldwide today. We have to wait and see if Vijay can get back into the form with this or not. Here is the review of the film:
Story:
After quitting some several odd jobs, Shiva ( Vijay Devarakonda ), a jobless graduate becomes a Taxi Driver. When everything was going well, things start to change as Vijay observes some spooky things happening in the car. Suspecting that there is a ghost inside that car, Shiva and some of his friends goes to find the owner of that car. When entering into the house of ex-owner, a professor who comes across them explains them about a pseudo-scientific process called Astral Projection. How does the Astral projection help to find the ghost? Who is that ghost? What happened in the end? forms the crux of the story. Also, the story of Shiva's brother and sister-in-law goes in parallel.
Performances:
Vijay Deverakonda is the main pillar of strength behind this film. He delivered an amazing performance in the film. Especially in the horror scenes, his facial expressions are too good. Vijay sure is showcasing his skills one by one with each film. He did a great job. Priyanka Jawalkar delivered a matured performance. There aren't many flaws in her performance. She can improve her expressions. Malvika Nair looked gorgeous in the film. Her performance is simply superb. She gave life to that character. Ravi Varma did an impressive job. Uttej also delivered a decent performance and Chammak Chandra's comedy timing will tickle the laugh bones of the audience. Yamuna delivered her career-best performance in the movie. Her expressions are superb.
Technical Aspects:
Director Rahul Sankrityan has chosen an intriguing script. He has not only added the commercial elements but also added supernatural elements to make the movie even more intriguing. He narrated the complex story in an understandable manner. There are a bunch of the scenes twists and turns in the film. The production values by Geetha Arts 2 and UV Creations are lavish. Dialogues and screenplay by Sai Kumar Reddy are the highlights. The music scored by Jakes Bejoy is excellent. Not only the songs, but his BGM is also refreshing. The runtime is crisp with 131 minutes. The cinematography by Sujith Sarang is amazing. He has produced some wonderful visuals for the film. Editing by Sreejith Sarang is also up to the mark.
Verdict:
The plot entirely revolves around Vijay Devarakonda and the ghost in the car. The intriguing plot of the movie is one of the major highlights. The director inter-related each and every scene with the story. The movie starts on a happy note and as the story unfolds, it turns interesting. The first half is decent with humour, supernatural elements, romance etc. The interval bang is too good. The second half also starts well but the pre-climax and climax scenes are not that interesting. The last 30 minutes of the movie felt dragged and boring. On the whole, 'Taxiwala' is an interesting and spooky thriller. Vijay Devarakonda is back into the form with this film.
