INDvsAUS: Ready to change fortunes this time, roars Rohit Sharma

Indian vice captain Rohit Sharma exuded a confident note while interacting with press ahead of first T20 in Brisbane. India hasn't had a very good record in Brisbane but Rohit is not one to look back at past too keenly. While all eyes are on the test series, India will be kicking off the much watched Australia tour with a three match T20 series.

Rohit Sharma told media that the Indians are well prepared to face the Australian pace battery. He said, "Whenever we played in Brisbane, it has always challenged us as a batting unit. We are ready to change the fortunes this time".

Rohit Sharma due to his prolific backfoot game has been also selected for the longer format of the game. However, the flamboyant batter isn't exactly looking so far ahead now. He said, " I’ve done well in limited-overs but the challenge, obviously, is red-ball cricket. Right now, I am not thinking about it. I will try to do well in T20 and take it from there."However, he accepted that the bounce in pitches like Brisbane and Perth suits his style of natural stroke making.

Rohit Sharma also played down the perceived advantage of not playing a test match at Brisbane. He said that last time they didn't play in Perth, where the conditions will be very challenging. Sharma predicted that the tall Aussie bowlers would like to extract full use of the conditions to perturb the Indian batters but hoped that the visitors would be upto the challenge.

India played well but lost test series in both South Africa and England. Acutely aware that India has a shot at history Down Under particularly with Smith and Warner missing in the Aussie ranks and the hosts fortunes in tailspin, Rohit said that the team is eager to make a mark. He said," There’s a good feeling within the group with regards to all three formats. When you do well in places like Australia, you feel good as a team. And, thinking about the World Cup, it can only give you confidence".
