The Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax department raided the home and offices of former union minister and TDP MP YS Chowdary in Hyderabad, Hindustan Times reported Saturday.
It is leart that the ED and the I-T department has seized several documents relating to the alleged financial irregularities.
Chowdary was a minister of state in Narendra Modi cabinet holding science and technology portfolio till March last, when the TDP pulled out of the NDA demanding special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
In March this year, TDP formally decided to quit the NDA, days after two of its ministers quit the Narendra Modi government protesting for Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.
The party also moved a no-confidence motion against the Modi government over the injustice meted out to the state, an official communique said.
At the time, the BJP felt, and continues to feel that this is the perfect opportunity to enter Andhra Pradesh. "TDP is feeling the pinch of the public opinion going against them. BJP said that it will use this as an opportunity to grow as a political party and emerge as a dominant political force in Andhra Pradesh.
