Superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer '2.0' was high on the buzzword ever since it was announced. The film released after a long wait of nearly three years and looking at the collections. looks like it was all worth it. Within a week of its release, the film has crossed the 500 crore mark worldwide!

Karan Johar, who is associated with the Hindi version of the film, took to Twitter and shared the news.

He wrote, ''A box office PHENOMENA!!!! 500 crores worldwide!!!!! We at @DharmaMovies are so proud to be associated with the HINDI version of this movie marvel!!!! @shankarshanmugh #RAJNISIR @akshaykumar @LycaProductions”

'2.0' is written and directed by S Shankar. This happens to be the first Indian film that is directly shot in 3D. '2.0' is a sequel to superhit 2010 Tamil film 'Enthiran' which had Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead.

The sci-fi drama shows Rajinikanth reprising the roles of Vaseegaran and Chitti, alongside Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.

The film was released worldwide in both 3D and conventional format on November 29 along with its dubbed version in Hindi and Telugu. Academy award winning music maestro AR Rahman has composed music for the film.
