Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant took over the commentary for an entire over during Day 5 of a thrilling Test between India and Australia and cricket fans have mixed reactions about his performance.
The hosts resumed the final day at 104 for 4 chasing 323, slipped to 187 for 7 but still managed to get to 291 after which they were bowled out in what was gradually becoming a tense finish.
Pat Cummins (28 off 121), Nathan Lyon (38*) and Mitchell Starc (28 off 44) kept India at bay, but India's persistence with the ball won them the game. Jasprit Bumrah, R Ashwin and Mohammed Shami got three wickets each while Ishant Sharma got one.
However, the spirited batting display from the Aussies led the Indians to resort to drastic measures, with Pant leading the pack. As the scorecard read 161/6, the energized keeper, who gloved 11 Australian batsmen, tried to get under the skin of Pat Cummins by launching in to an attack of words behind the stumps.
"Come on Pat, you're not putting the bad ball away!" Pant quipped during Ashwin's over. "Tough to play here," he added in an attempt to unnerve the batsman.
The one-sided banter was picked up by stump mic and the recording soon went viral on Twitter.
