Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday took a dig at the Opposition over the Ram Mandir issue, saying only the BJP could build the temple in Ayodhya.
“Some people were saying that they will only vote for the party that will build Ram temple. Whenever it happens and whoever does it, I assure you we’ll be the ones to do it, nobody else can do it,” Adityanath said in Lucknow in his address at the Yuva Kumbh programme.
The UP chief minister also criticised Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, saying people were flaunting the ‘janeu’ (sacred thread) for votes. Adityanath has attacked Gandhi earlier too, saying people who had described themselves as 'accidentally Hindus' were now realising that they were Hindus in the real sense and it was a victory of Sanatan faith.
Speaking about the preparations being made for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, the chief minister alleged that Hindu festivals and traditions were often insulted. “Even Kumbh was termed as anti-youth, anti-dalit, anti-women and anti-environment. Prayagraj Kumbh will reflect Indian culture globally,” he said.
