With Simmba’s success, Shetty becomes the first Bollywood director to achieve this feat. His latest starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan has managed to cross the coveted Rs 100 crore mark in just five days of its release. He wrote, “Like I pointed out yesterday, #Simmba is Rohit Shetty's eighth film to cross ₹ 100 cr mark... Rohit holds the record for maximum films in ₹ 100 cr Club... Indeed, Rohit is making the audience laugh in theatres and his distributors laugh all the way to the bank!”

Rohit Shetty’s film are known for their masala and action elements. His films are packed with high-voltage drama, action, romance, songs and lots of flying cars. It is also jokingly said that Scoprio car is the staple of Rohit Shetty films.

Before Simmba, the 7 Rohit Shetty films that have earned more than Rs 100 crore at the box office are: Golmaal 3, Singham, Bol Bachchan, Chennai Express, Singham Returns, Dilwale and Golmaal Again. Golmaal Again released in theatres in 2017 on the occasion of Diwali. The film became an instant hit among the audience with horror plus comedy genre.

On the other hand, Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Chennai Express remains the highest grossing Rohit Shetty film ever. It has minted over Rs 400 crore at the worldwide box office while making around Rs 220 crore at the domestic box office back in 2013.

Now the question remains if Ranveer Singh’s cop drama Simmba will manage to break Chennai Express’ records to become the highest grossing Rohit Shetty film ever. Going by the pace at which the film is picking numbers at the BO, we can see the records shattering soon.
