Mumbai: Rani Mukerji’s father, filmmaker Ram Mukerji, has passed away. He was 84.
The filmmaker took his last breath today early morning at 6 am. He was not keeping well for a long time.
According to the official statement released by Yash Raj Films, headed by Rani’s husband Aditya Chopra, the director’s funeral was attended by family and close friends.
“Ram Mukerji, respected filmmaker, beloved father and husband, is no more. He passed away on October 22 at 6 am due to natural causes. Close friends and family attended his quiet funeral at 2 pm this afternoon.
“… He will be sorely missed by his wife Krishna Mukerji, daughter Rani Mukerji, son Raja Mukerji and the rest of the family,” the statement read.
Mukerji was one of the key associates of S Mukerji and one of the founder members of Filmalaya studios.
He is best known for directing films like “Hum Hindustani” and “Leader” starring Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala.
