Story:
Nikky ( Nidhhi Agerwal) is an NRI Girl who lives in the UK. She has high expectations for the man who is going to marry her. One day, she meets Vikky( Akhil ). Vikky is also an NRI who is doing Masters in London. Initially, Nikky hates him as he is a big flirt. But, they both travel to India for their cousins’ wedding and she falls in love with him. She also proposes him to stay in a two-month love relationship with her. Vikky always says that he is not a suitable match for her and rejects after the 2 months period. Deeply hurt by his words, Nikky returns to the UK. After a few days, Vikky starts missing her and wants her back in his life. He also travels back to the UK to meet her. Did he succeed in his attempts to convince her? Forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Akhil Akkineni has shown a mesmerizing transformation in this movie when compared to his previous two films. Not only in the looks, but the actor has also shown a big difference in his performance as well. Despite get getting a challenging role, Akhil has pulled it off with ease. Nidhhi Agerwal is undoubtedly a beautiful and talented actress. When compared to her debut 'Savyasachi', Nidhi performed well in this movie and has more screen time in this film. Izabelle Leite is a perfect fit for her role. She looked beautiful and performed well. Nagababu and Subbaraju also got meaty roles in this film and delivered decent performances. Rao Ramesh is impressive. Jayaprakash did his best. Pavitra Lokesh and Sitara suited for their roles and delivered good performances. Priyadarshi and Vidyullekha excel in comedy scenes.
Technical Aspects:
Just like his debut movie, Venky Atluri used the same formula of embedding the entertainment elements in a simple love story in this movie as well. He has prepared a cute love story and sprinkled some comedy, emotional and melodramatic scenes in the film. Though his narration is a little bit slow, he has executed the story really well. Production values by BVSN Prasad are luxurious. It is evident that the producer has invested massive amounts for the film. Music by SS Thaman is one of the major driving factors behind this film.
His tunes not only elevated the emotions in the scenes but also some catchy tunes are outstanding. Cinematography by George C Williams is an absolute delight. His visuals are extremely beautiful. Editing by Naveen Nooli is clean. The runtime is crisp.
Verdict:
'Mr. Majnu' is an average film with some shortcomings. The first half of the film is full of fun and entertainment. Some romantic and light-weight comedy scenes keep the audience engaged. But, the second half brings a new change as it has a lot of emotions. The second half is also a bit slow. But, the interval bang is superb. Akhil Akkineni's performance is an eye feast.
The story connects with all age groups of the audience which is an advantage for the film. Overall, 'Mr. Majnu' is a youthful entertainer with few shortcomings.
